‘Searching’ Sequel Cast Confirmed: Nia Long Joins Storm Reid
Nia Long and Storm Reid are set to star in the next installment of the box office hit ‘Searching’. The film also stars Joaquin de Almeida, Ken Leung, Amy Landecker, Daniel Henney, Megan Suri and Tim Griffin.
‘Searching’ will not be a direct sequel, but rather a next film in the same franchise. Filmmakers have not yet revealed the details of the plot, but it is certain that the story will feature a new set of characters, and the events, as in the original, will unfold on the screens of various devices. Production is starting in the spring.
The film will be the directorial debut for Will Merrick and Nick Johnson, who were in charge of editing the first ‘Searching’. The pic is produced by Natalie Kasabyan, Anish Chaganti and Sev Ohanyan of Search Party, as well as Adam Sidman and Timur Bekmambetov at Bazelevs.
The original ‘Searching’ was a real breakthrough for the screenlife format films, grossing $75.5 million at the box office with a budget of only $880,000.
