Upskilling in Isolation: Screenlife — Mastering the Art of the Technical Revolution in Film

Applications for the BFI Film Academy Labs Screenlife pitching sessions are now closed. The selected participants will be contacted by email no later than Thursday 2nd July at 3pm BST time

Screenlife Liverpool, BFI and Institute of Creative Enterprise at Edge Hill University join forces to take the screenlife format to the masses with a Masterclass by Film Director and the creative mind behind the screenlife, Timur Bekmambetov, on Saturday, July 4th.

BFI Film Academy Lab will focus on exploring screenlife. Award-winning director and producer Timur Bekmambetov will be joining the masterclass to discuss the inception of Screenlife, and how young filmmakers can use this pioneering technology for their upcoming projects!

The masterclass will be followed by individual pitching sessions for 10 selected participants on the afternoon of Saturday, July 4th. These 10 minute sessions will be an opportunity for you to pitch your screenlife ideas for short films directly to Timur for a chance to greenlight your projects. Timur’s Bazelevs production company will produce a short film based on the winning pitch idea as a proof of concept for a feature film or webseries.

Please note: The BFI Film Academy Labs events are for 16-25 year olds. Submission deadline is June 26th.

All candidates selected to pitch their projects to Timur must attend the free masterclass on Saturday, July 4th 12:30pm – 1:30pm. Masterclass registrations open on June 22nd and the link to register will be advertised across the BFI Film Academy social channels.
