Timur Bekmambetov Screenlife Thriller ‘Profile’ Is Coming to Theatres in May
Focus Features has acquired global rights to Timur Bekmambetov’s screenlife thriller Profile, which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in 2018 and won the Audience Award there. Universal Pictures will distribute the film internationally, with a theatrical release date of May 14.
‘Profile’ tells a story of an undercover British journalist and her investigation to expose a terrorist recruiter through social media. The film stars Valene Kane and Shazad Latif and is based on the 2015 bestseller ‘In the Skin of a Jihadist’ by a French journalist Anna Érelle.
All the events in the film take place entirely on a computer screen in the screenlife format, pioneered and developed by Bekmambetov. The script was written by Britt Poulton, Timur Bekmambetov and Olga Kharina. ‘Profile’ is produced by Bekmabetov, Kharina and Igor Tsay from Interface Films (R#J).
